Ismir is not only a very skillful, experienced and professional fixer who understands journalism, understands television, understands newspapers and understands what makes a good story a good story, he’s also an unbelievably kind person. He speaks his languages fluently – Dutch, English, Bosnian, you name it – is intelligent on a political and social level and knows how to handle stress. We have spent three days together making two features for my Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. Both stories worked out really well. Ismir knows Bosnia and its history and is therefore able to select and suggest the most interesting people to talk to. He is also capable of winning a persons trust, which I think is really important if you are dealing with heavy subjects, as we did. Also: a story for him doesn’t stop once it is published. He stayes in contact with the people he meets, keeps them informed about reactions and so forth and always stayes friendly, which is, besided the right thing to do, also a reason his network is so big. Long story short: i highly reccomend Ismir as a fixer, interviewer, translator, guide and a friend!
